Fix STL files free in your browser. Automatically detect and repair open edges, non-manifold geometry, and other mesh errors so your 3D model is ready to print.
Mesh diagnostics & repair
Upload an STL or OBJ mesh and iamRapid's repair engine automatically detects and fixes the errors that ruin 3D prints — open edges and holes, non-manifold geometry, flipped and inverted normals, degenerate and duplicate triangles, duplicate vertices and self-intersections. It then welds coincident vertices, closes boundary loops and re-orients faces so your model comes out watertight, manifold and ready to slice. Everything runs locally in your browser using industry-standard mesh-repair algorithms — no upload, no account, and your model never leaves your device.
Current support: STL (binary & ASCII) and OBJ. For STEP, IGES, 3MF or other CAD formats, convert the file first and then run repair diagnostics.
An STL file needs repair when its mesh is not watertight and manifold — the two conditions a slicer requires to turn a surface into a solid, printable object. Exported and scanned meshes frequently contain holes (open boundaries), non-manifold edges, flipped or inverted normals, degenerate and duplicate triangles, duplicate vertices, and self-intersections. These defects cause slicers such as Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Lychee and Chitubox to fail, skip regions, or produce gaps, blobs and failed prints that waste filament, resin and time.
iamRapid's free online STL repair tool and error checker detects these errors and automatically fixes them in your browser — closing holes, resolving non-manifold geometry, re-orienting normals, welding duplicate vertices and removing degenerate and duplicate faces — then gives you a clean, watertight STL you can download and slice. There is nothing to install, no account, and your model never leaves your device.
A 3D model is printable when its mesh is watertight (no holes), manifold (every edge is shared by exactly two triangles), has consistently outward-facing normals, and is free of degenerate or self-intersecting geometry. To make any STL or OBJ printable:
This is the fastest way to make a broken or non-watertight STL printable without learning Blender, Meshmixer, Netfabb or MeshLab.
Everything runs entirely in your browser. No software to install, no upload to a server, and no account required.
Yes. The STL repair tool is completely free and unlimited — no sign-up, no watermark and no file-size paywall. It runs in your browser, so you can repair as many STL or OBJ files as you need at no cost.
Make the mesh watertight (no holes), manifold (every edge shared by exactly two triangles) and outward-facing. Upload your file here and the tool automatically closes holes, fixes non-manifold edges, re-orients normals and removes degenerate and duplicate triangles, then lets you download a print-ready STL.
No. All analysis and repair run locally in your web browser, so your 3D model never leaves your device and stays completely private.
A watertight, manifold mesh is a closed surface with no holes, where every edge is shared by exactly two faces and all normals point outward. Slicers need this to calculate a solid interior; without it a print can fail or come out with gaps.
Yes. The tool traces every open boundary loop and fills it with correctly-oriented triangles, and resolves non-manifold edges by removing the offending faces and re-closing the surface, then makes the winding consistent.
Yes. The tool reads both STL (binary and ASCII) and OBJ meshes, and exports the repaired model as a clean binary STL ready for any slicer.
A watertight, manifold STL works with every common process — FDM, SLA/resin, SLS, MJF, PolyJet and metal DMLS. iamRapid offers all of these as an online 3D printing service in India.
The tool handles meshes with hundreds of thousands of triangles. Heavily damaged scans may need a second pass, or a few self-intersections may remain — these are flagged in the report so you know exactly what to review.
Yes. Every run analyses the mesh first and reports all errors — holes, non-manifold edges, degenerate and duplicate triangles, self-intersections and more — before any repair. Use it as a free STL error checker and validator, then download the repaired file only if you want it.
Once your file is repaired, use our STL analysis tool to verify dimensions and volume, or get an instant quote from iamRapid for professional FDM, SLA, SLS, MJF and DMLS 3D printing across India.
